Hello and Welcome!

My name is Shelly Hertel and I am the sole Speech-Language Pathologist for the Richfield School District.  I provide evaluation and therapy services in the areas of speech and language for students at Richfield and Plat schools, as well as St. Gabriel's.  This is my ninth year as a certified speech-language pathologist and my fourth year in Richfield.  Previously, I lived in Glendale, Arizona and worked in inner-city schools in Phoenix where I gained valuable experience working in a low socioeconomic area evaluating and treating children with a variety of speech and language needs. 

This year I have implemented a service delivery model called the 3:1 Service Delivery Model which allows me to provide direct and indirect therapy to the students.  The first three weeks of the month is the students' direct therapy time and the last week of the month will be utilized for consultations with teachers/parents, evaluations, collaboration and team teaching with teachers in the regular education classrooms, paperwork, and observations.  So far this model has been working well with the students and allows the students to carry-over the skills learned in the speech room into the regular education classroom. 

My experience in Richfield has been fun and exciting and I am looking forward to the years to come!
