Weekly Project

 

            Each week a different group of students will present the big news story of the week.  The group will get their news from a variety of sources.  These sources will include: newspapers, magazines, Internet, T.V. and other forms of media.  Each group will work together during the week to present a mock newscast for the rest of the class in order to teach the class the key issues from the week. 



Requirements

1. Report on two news events from the following categories

·        World

·        Politics/ Law/ Economics

·        Sports/ Entertainment

·        Science/ Technology/ Health

·        US/ Local in Wisconsin

·        Two from anything else but they must be different categories

 

2. Visual Aids

  • Create a video

  • Use Five visual aids showing appropriate pictures of the stories pictures .

  • Other visual aids if appropriate

  • THIS WILL REQUIRE SOMETIME IN STUDY HALL- News stories can be up to a month old

 



3.  Your group must turn in a list of six sources.  Your sources must consist of three sources of print and three sources from the Internet.  The source must list the article and where you found the article and the date of the publication.  The sources must be in MLA style.



4. Must paraphrase your articles.  Read the news, then put the news in your own words.  Use words that you know and know how to pronounce. 



5.  Make one question at the end for discussion.  This must be an opinion question about one of the topics.  News cast today often do polls on opinion questions.  You will make the opinion question to poll the class and be discussed. 



6. Time should be 15-30 minutes
