Answer the following questions for notes as you read through the Primary Sources: Life in the North and South
1. What is the difference and similar with the organization of time on the plantation and factory?
2. What are punishments like on both?
3. What are rules the plantation and factory?
4. How are workers cared for?
ASSIGNMENT: Make a Venn Diagram Comparing the plant and factory life. 3 examples in each section

Station 2- Discrimination in the North and South.
In lesson 2 you will look at the discrimination found in the North and the South during the 1830’s. Compare rights of African Americans before the Civil War in the North and the South. – Group Assignment
Read through the “Status of African American in American during the 1830’s packet” . Determine whether the quotation was from the North or the South on a separate piece of paper as a group. Turn in answers to Mr. C when you are finished.
Then as a group decide what was the most surprising quote found in the packet and why you found it the most surprising.

Read Pages 383-393 life in the south
Station 3- Abolitionists and fighting against slavery.
In this lesson you will learn about the men and women who fought against slavery.- Group Assignment
As a group pick five people who fought against slavery. These could be abolitionists, former slaves, or people who helped with the underground railroad. Next, write up in 5-8 sentences why they were important.
Find about two or three pictures to represent them. Only one picture should be of the person. Then in Magix make a short video with the pictures and the sentences you have compiled.
You may only open Magixs once the five people, the pictures, and your script completed.

Station 4- The Government and Slavery-
Group Assignment
GO To: Discovery Education as a group. Watch Video and answer the writing Prompt. One group member should turn this in, but all members should have their names at the top of the paragraph.
Watch the appropriate video clips that go with each of the following. In your notes write a short summary for each item.
1. 3/5 Clause
2. Tariff of Nullifications
3. Missouri Compromise of 1820
4. Compromise of 1850
5. 1854 Kansas and Nebraska Act
6. Dred Scot Case
7. Lincoln Douglas Debate
Next, pick one the one item you think had the greatest influence on the starting the civil war. In a paragraph write why you picked it and how you would have changed it to prevent the Civil War.

Station 6- Looking at Primary Sources.

In the blank boxes Objectives:
1. Select a perspective: Abolitionist or Pro-Slave Southerner
2. Analyze primary source documents from this perspective in order to share your opinions on important events
3. Summarize, in your opinion, which events were critical to the beginning of the Civil War

Station 7- Timeline.
Pick ten important events from any of the readings and make a timeline for the events leading to the Civil War. The first event should be slavery brought to America in 1619 in Jamestown and the last event will be Election of Lincoln 1860. COMPUTER- Use Inspiration
