"I enjoy learning, so I can teach"
A 1980 graduate of U.W.-Whitewater  with a bachelors in education, and an emphasis in math. The first fourteen years of my career I taught at a variety of grade levels in a parochial school. I continued my college education receiving my Reading Teacher License in 1997. I graduated in 2000 with a Master's of Education in reading, a K-12 Reading Specialist License.  The past fifteen years I have been blessed to enjoy each day at Richfield School District as the District's Reading Specialist.
From childhood family experience, I realized the importance and power of a good education. My siblings and I grew up before special education laws and the current learning research. My parents fought, like good parents will, for their children. Their hard won lessons make me a better teacher. I realized at a young age, that a person can have a  high IQ and still struggle to learn to read, to  spell, and to understand math.
I wear many hats in the Richfield School District. Currently I am the District's Reading Specialist. Working with staff, students, and parents to help create a literate student body. Currently I am also a Middle School Teacher. I instruct both seventh and eighth graders in Literature, sixth graders in reading,  team teach in  third grade, provide remedial lessons for students reading below grade level, and provide literature circle groups for grades three, four, and five. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books,  professional magazines, listening to audio books, to Wisconsin Public Radio, and taking my twenty pound lap dog on walks.
