|  Welcome to the Richfield Jt. School District No. 1 and the 2011-2012 school year. The Richfield Jt. School District No. 1 serves the communities of Colgate, Hubertus, Richfield, and Germantown. The school district serves students in grades 4K through 8 in two schools. Richfield Elementary School serves students in grades 3-8 and Plat Elementary School serves students in grades 4K-2. The Plat Elementary School also hosts an early childhood education program. The Richfield Jt. School District No. 1 is an elementary school district that graduates students to the Hartford Union High School District.  The Richfield Jt. School District No. 1 had a great school year in 2010-2011. Students in the school district did well on the 2010 Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam and were extremely well prepared to enter high school at Hartford Union High School.  Planning for the 2011-2012 school year was a major part of 2010-2011. A School Improvement Plan for the school district that included adding economics to the 8th grade curriculum, implementing keyboarding in grades 3-5, increasing library services at both the Plat and Richfield Elementary Schools and enhancing the district's technology services are just some of the improvements planned and implemented for the 2010-2011 school year.  Another area of improvement for the Richfield School District was a well defined and thoroughly planned Capital Improvement Plan and energy conservation project. Facility and grounds improvements were made at both elementary schools that upgraded bathrooms at both schools, halls were remodeled, classrooms painted, hall floors replaced and entrances were upgraded for handicapped accessibility. The School Board continues to value a good teaching and learning environment for students and staff.  The strength of the Richfield School District continues to grow with the quality staff, parents, and students of the school district. This strength has resulted in the Richfield School District scoring at the top among Southeastern Wisconsin school districts and giving Richfield students quality school experiences. It does make a difference where a student goes to school.  Â
