Student Council is in its fifth year with the primary focus being WE not ME!
Student Council collaborates and organizes MORE than reward trips and dances. Student Council will progress further into charitable acts again this year. Previous years we donated to causes such as: Kids v.s. Hunger, Vince Condella’s Coats for Kids, Pennies for Patients ($2000, $1800, $1900), Hope for Haitie campaign, ($2100)processing of the school store, popcorn sales, working in the school cafeteria, and Operation Graduation. Student Council also contributed towards the new digital communication device in the multi-purpose room. This “council ship” worksTOGETHER to better our school community and other's lives.
Student Council members will be selected by Mrs. Thoma, not by a student vote. Student council members must turn in their application on time to be considered for this commission. Student Council members MUST earn good grades; any mark below a C is not acceptable. Every student council member gets allowance for ONE infraction. Upon the second infraction, they will be expected to leave Student Council. ALL members are required to stay late and clean up after EVERY dance. ALL are required to attend EVERY meeting. There will be an appointed President, Vice President, and Presidential aide. Minutes will be recorded at each meeting. The association will consist of mainly 8th graders, some 7th graders, a few 6th graders and one advisor.
Do not sign up for this club, just because your friends do. Sign up because you have first-class ideas for our school, or because you want to help others. Sign up because you are a great ORGANIZER & LEADER. Weekly meetings will be on Mondays during YOUR LUNCH HOUR. We will meet in room 109.
Applications for Student Council must be turned into Mrs. Thoma by Thursday, September 15, 2011.
Yours in leadership,
Mrs. Thoma
